The architecture of Baku is a stone reflection of the political and cultural transformations the city has endured. From becoming the capital of the Shirvanshahs in the late 12th century to the modern day, the cityscape tells a complex story shaped by the Great Silk Road, oil and saffron production, Russian annexation, Sovietisation, and modern independence.

Despite Azerbaijan being known as one of the least religiously observant nations - while maintaining a cultural Muslim majority - Baku offers a memorable spiritual experience. This journey explores the city's diverse and rich cultural background, where faiths have mingled for centuries.

This route stretching from northeast to southwest passes through ancient trails historically used by nomads, merchants, and travelers. 2 days / 1 night route: Quba (Haput village) → Bulanliq highland (3000 m) → Qalajiq village (Ismayilli). Total distance: 32 km (Day 1 – 15 km, Day 2 – 17 km).
